On November 14, 2012, Texas Representative Ron Paul delivered a nearly 7,000 word, 18-page farewell address to Congress, in typical Paul fashion.
I recommend that you take the time to listen to or read this speech.

Beginning in April 2013, Monticello College will include this speech in the 1st year curriculum to be read and studied along with Reagan’s “A Time for Choosing” speech, FDR’s Second Inaugural Address, and Lincoln’s Cooper Union Address, among others.
Regardless your political perspective, I encourage you to study this speech and use it to review liberty in your own life.
Consider:
What is the proper role of government?
What are unalienable rights?
What does life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness really mean?
What is Free Enterprise and how has it been preempted by Capitalism?
What is debt and how is it used as an American governmental policy?
What are property rights? Why?
What is welfare? Who should benefit from it?
What is the purpose of education?
What is economic slavery?
What is the purpose of war?
What is imperialism?
What does “equal rights, not equal things” mean?
What does the concept of freedom to “try, buy, sell, and fail” really mean?

While reading Dr. Paul’s farewell address I thought it belonged in the same category with the documents we studied this year. I’m happy to see it included in the curriculum.
I gotta admit I wrote him in on my ballot . . . .
