Monticello College Announces Scholarships For New Program

For more than two years, we have been sending you educational articles and keeping you informed of the progress of Monticello College.

As we continue to build this one-of-a-kind college here in the Blue Mountains, we intend to launch new offerings on a regular basis to meet the needs of budding statesmen.

Our newest and most exciting program is for prospective students, and it is called: The 2014 Visiting Student Program (VSP).

This “Student For a Week” program (actually 9 days) will host two carefully selected groups of potencial college students to visit Monticello College campus during 2014, one in May and the other in November.

VSP can accommodate up to 10 prospective students per visit and all prospective students who are selected will receive a 100% scholarship ($800) that covers all costs except for travel to and from Monticello College.

Participants will be chosen through an application process that includes a written application, a 1,000–word essay, and a videoconference interview.

The selection process will open on December 5, 2013 and close on January 16, 2014.

Applications will be available online beginning November 1, 2013 at www.monticellocollege.orgThe Application Deadline will be December 6, 2013.

Participants will spend 9 days on the Monticello College campus and experience campus life as full time students.

Some of the activities they will participate in are:

  • Attending regular classes
  • Caring for farm animals
  • Constructing campus buildings
  • Production of the campus food supply
  • Working in the aquaponics facility
  • Trek (hiking and learning survival skills)
  • Bonfires and other outdoor activities
  • Sunrise solitude
  • Public speaking
  • Public performance
  • Service project on the Navajo Indian Reservation

We would like to send materials to you and your children in an attempt to better prepare your students for acceptance into this exciting program. Starting young is the key to increasing their preparation and creating a sense of anticipation will serve to encourage new scholar age students to take their studies more seriously.

To ensure that all students who desire can prepare and apply, we need to update our database.
